I thought I’d revisit these thoughts on the yoni, originally posted on my Tennis Meditations blog. I recently went out dancing, and I put this to practice with great success.
My dance card was full, and a few dogs (the actual animals) stopped in their tracks. You must be smelling my dog! Here’s what caused all the raucous:
If you don’t want to think about your vagina and vulva (or someone else’s), then stop reading right now.
This is about bringing feminine power back into your day. Modern day society is full of goal-making, going full steam ahead, and competition.
These things can be great assets on the tennis court and in your company, but when your energy is mostly feminine (yin), to feel at your best you need to balance the abundance of masculine (yang) energy that surrounds us daily.
One way to do this, is to walk yoni first. “Yoni” (long “o”) comes from Sanskrit, meaning the area that encompasses your vagina and vulva.
Instead of leading with your foot first, consciously think that you’re going to lead with your yoni as you move around your day. (I would say run yoni first, but it might get complicated thinking about your yoni as you set up for the shot!)
Don’t just think of it once in the morning. Make the thought pervasive for an entire day, with the most beautiful of intentions you can muster. The feminine, yin energy is naturally receiving, and you may be surprised by how much people want to give to you when you’re walking yoni first, especially men. We send out signals all the time – whether consciously or not.
Now, all you have to do is receive! We’re so used to giving, sometimes it’s hard to just receive from someone, without wanting to do something for them in return.
If you’re going to give while you’re in this yoni first energy, how about giving the gift of receiving? It’s a dance of yin and yang. And this vibrant energy doesn’t come alive if all parties are yanging.
And please let me how it goes after a full day of yoni first. This is when the magic happens!
